Grammar school celebrates impressive GCSE pass rate

Hipperholme Grammar School is celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results, with 96% of pupils gaining a minimum of five GCSE passes.

The school, in Bramley Lane, recorded a 100% pass rate in Religious Studies, Music, History, French and German – bucking the national trend for modern languages.

The pass rate in Maths improved significantly from 79% in 2018 to 96% in 2019.

Four pupils achieved the elusive top grade 9 – Ella Jones and Lucas Dance in German, George Gilgrass in Sports Studies and head boy Maximus Robins in History.

Jackie Griffiths, Hipperholme Grammar School headteacher, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results our pupils have achieved this year. These grades are testament not only to the hard work and dedication invested by our pupils but reflect the school’s own academic expectations.

“It is particularly pleasing to note our pass rate in Maths has made an impressive move upwards from 79% in 2018 to 96% in 2019. We are also extremely proud of our 100% pass rate in modern languages, which is in contrast to the picture nationally.

“Congratulations to all our hard-working pupils – and many thanks to our talented and dedicated staff who make this fantastic achievement possible.”
