The Yorkshire team that keeps the legend of the Land Rover® Defender® alive across the world is joining the celebrations at the White Rose Awards for tourism next week.
Twisted Automotive has become the Event Partner for the awards, which are being held on Monday 30 October at The First Direct Arena, Leeds. The awards will celebrate another record-breaking year for tourism in Yorkshire – and similarly a bumper year for Twisted Automotive.
The Thirsk-based company will have vehicles on display outside the venue, showcasing the Land Rover® Defender® that the company transforms and improves for customers in both the UK and abroad.
For Twisted, interest in the brand has only intensified since production of the Defender ceased in January 2016.
Twisted founder Charles Fawcett said: “We believe that this is a great partnership with real synergies, and an opportunity to work together on something special in the future. The White Rose Awards are very much about championing Yorkshire, and ultimately Yorkshire is at the absolute core of Twisted Automotive.
“We export Yorkshire craftsmanship all over the world through our vehicles, choosing to work with local firms over international or national ones, and we believe that the more we can bring to the area, the better the area becomes.
“Thirsk is becoming the epicentre for Land Rover Defender. There’s ourselves, but the network of Land Rover and 4x4 organisations has grown around us in recent years, so I believe in that sense that Twisted has helped put Thirsk on the map.
“Welcome to Yorkshire does an amazing job of publicising Yorkshire and strong brands, including ourselves, should work together to the betterment of the whole region.”
Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “The passion with which Twisted Automotive convert, restore and re-engineer these iconic vehicles is fantastic and a great example of a family-run business going from strength to strength.
“I know the team are very proud of their Yorkshire identity and we’re delighted to welcome them as the headline partner for the White Rose Awards.”
