Pupils from Hipperholme Grammar School Foundation sprinted towards a quadruple podium triumph – fending off national competition at the ISA Athletics Championships.
All eight of the school’s competitors finished in the top 10 at the finals in Birmingham, with notable stunning silver successes in the girls’ 100m and 4x100m relay for Year 9’s race ace Abbie Greenwood.
Meanwhile, there was double delight for Year 4’s Charlotte Shaw and George Gillgrass (Year 9) who scooped bronze medals in the 65m and 800m races respectively.
More success followed as fourth place finishes went to Year 10’s Joe O’Hara in the shotput, Evie Shaw (Year 4) in the rounders ball throw competition, Year 8’s Halle Blu-Morrison in the 200m and Beau Morrison (Year 6) in the 150m. Euan Hancock (Year 5) also clinched sixth spot in the cricket ball throw competition.
A proud Matt Crouchman, Head of PE at Hipperholme Grammar School Foundation, said:
“I am thrilled with the excellent results from all of our pupils. They were all incredibly enthusiastic and worked great as a team.”
As June 26-30 marks National School Sport Week, Hipperholme Grammar School has had plenty to celebrate of late including the international achievements of Joseph Underwood and George Gillgrass who successfully made it into the England Rugby Development Programme.
Mr Crouchman added: “We have a lot to be proud of when it comes to sport. The school’s recent achievements have put us in great spirits and have come at a great time to mark National School Sports Week in style.”
